home in corvallis

You may have heard us talk about the fact that we were going to be staying in the incubator house in Corvallis. First we need to give you an overview of the "complex". The depot is the base for this housing operation. Out behind the depot are a couple of old train cars with plans to become housing units at some point. As you can see by the plaque in front of the incubator house, these historic buildings, the Incubator house from campus and the old Poultry building were moved here to be part of the complex. The incubator house is the cute little building with the high windows and the fencing on the roof. We arrived there very late on the first Sunday nite. We got in and hit the sack. Monday morning, Steve went to work and I woke up to ants...... ants!!! In Illinois, I work so hard to get rid of ants and come to Corvallis to ants!!! I called Dave the guy we dealt with. The night before he had suggested that we might be interested in the upstairs apartment in the Poultry building next door. Now with the ants, he showed it to me and as much as I liked the Incubator house, I liked the Poultry building better. So we are in the Poultry building which is the tallest of the buildings at the Depot , sitting just west of the incubator house. One thing that wasn't too appealing about the incubator house was that the bed was in the middle of the "living room" while in the poultry building, there is a separate bedroom.

These other pictures are of the kitchenette area, living room area with couch and "wall of windows" which along with the bedroom windows, look out on mountains over campus. We usually have our computers set up on the table by the TV .

Then there is the secretary and the hallway where our coats hang and our luggage is resting.

There is a view of our car out the hall window.

Also there is a view up the stairs (the least attractive part to us old folks, although nostalgic of our school days) and our front door. It's obvious that these pictures are not in any particular order. We haven't figured out yet how to easily manage lots of pictures with this site.
